Now that 2025 is here, Grand Theft Auto (GTA) fans have all the reasons in the world to rejoice.
Rockstar Games, the studio behind the multi-billion dollar franchise confirmed that GTA 6 will be taking players back to Vice City and even uploaded a teaser trailer back in 2023, which gave us some insight on what to expect from the upcoming game.
If you are eager to know about the most hyped installment in the Grand Theft Auto series, from launch date to expected platforms, here’s everything we know so far about GTA 6.
GTA 6 Launch Date
For years, GTA fanboys have been waiting for Rockstar Games to officially announce the launch date for GTA 6, but the studio has yet to confirm anything except that the game will be coming sometime in the fall of 2025.
The news comes from Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive, who said that the game will be coming sometime in the fall of 2025.
However, in September last year, citing delays in the launch of GTA 4, Rockstar North technical director Obbe Vermeij said that they are “probably not in a position to determine whether they will hit 2025 until May-ish.”
GTA 6 Platform Availability
Rockstar Games has traditionally launched the Grand Theft Auto on consoles, which is then followed by a PC version a few years later.
According to a press release, GTA 6 will initially be limited to the Xbox Series X/S and the PlayStation 5 Pro.
As for the PC version, a Rockstar developer said that GTA 6 may not be available on the PC until 2027, hinting that the game may require a powerful GPU and CPU combo to run at 60fps on the highest settings.
GTA 6 Map And Gameplay
Going by the trailer shared by Rockstar Games last year, GTA 6 will take players back to Vice City, a fictional version of Miami. However, unlike GTA: Vice City, which was set in 1986, GTA 6 will have a modern-day setting.
Rockstar Games said that the state of Leonida, where Vice City is located is “home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond” and will be the “biggest, most immersive evolution of Grand Theft Auto yet.”
This means that apart from Vice City, we may also see a part of Florida’s Everglades. And while there are some familiar locations like the Starfish Island, iconic places like the Ocean View Hotel, Malinu Club and others are still missing.
The trailer also shows us the two new protagonists. While the trailer did introduce us to the female lead – Lucia, there is much to learn about her male counterpart.
By the looks of it, the duo may have a Bonnie and Clyde-style relationship as they can be seen committing crimes together.
A report by Bloomberg also suggested that Rockstar Games plans to add more cities and interior locations to the game after launch, but we suggest you take this information with a grain of salt since nothing is official at the moment.
GTA 6 Trailer 2 Release Date
In the last few days, rumour has it that Rockstar Games is planning to release the second trailer for GTA 6. This was corroborated by various known tipsters who have accurately predicted things about GTA 6 in the past, but nothing has come up since.
However, with GTA 6 just a few months away from launch, it won’t be surprising if Rockstar Games releases a new trailer that gives us more details about the game.
