A few days before the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), LG unveiled two new “lifestyle projectors,” which may look great in your living room but may not have the best picture quality – the PF600U and PU615U projectors.
LG says the PF600U is a three-in-one device that consists of a full HD projector, a Bluetooth speaker, and a standing floor LED mood lamp.
While the electronics giant hasn’t divulged much details about the Bluetooth speaker’s output, the LED mood lamp supports nine colours and five brightness levels. The PF600U weighs 7.5 kg and measures 290 x 290 x 983 mm.
The PF600U three-in-one lifestyle projector has a 110-degree tilting head and comes with an automatic screen adjustment function, which should make it easy to fine-tune the projected image. It can project images on screen sizes between 30 to 120 inches and supports HDR and HLG picture formats.
It can only output 300 ANSI lumens of brightness, meaning the picture quality won’t look good unless you use it in a dark room. On the connectivity front, you get a HDMI port and USB Type-C ports. The device runs on webOS and supports casting on both Android and iOS devices.
LG also unveiled the PU615U, or the CineBeam S, a compact 4K UHD projector that can beam 40 to 100-inch pictures. It weighs just 2.5 kg and supports stereo sound with Dolby Atmos.
This LG’s smallest 4K Ultra Short Throw (UST) projector delivers 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160) with 500 ANSI lumens brightness and a contrast ratio of 450,000:1. It can project images from 40 to 100 inches with a 0.25:1 throw ratio, which means it requires minimal wall clearance.
This model uses a laser light source (RGB) with up to 20,000 hours of durability, as LG claims. It also features Dolby Atmos-enabled stereo sound and includes Auto Screen Adjustment for precise image alignment.
Connectivity options are similar to the PF600U, with HDMI, USB Type-C, and wireless compatibility with Android and iOS.
It also runs on WebOS for access to streaming services, and supports HDR/HLG formats. It comes with features like Auto Screen Adjustment, Wall Colour Adjustment and Screen Scaling/Shifting, which can help the user align the projector to various room configurations.
LG is yet to reveal the price of both projectors, so we will have to wait for CES to kick off for more details about these products.
Both projectors operate on webOS for access to streaming services, and support HDR/HLG formats. The PU615U is more compact, weighing 2.5 kg with dimensions of 110 x 160 x 160 mm.
LG is not the only one caught up in the latest launch, TechEnthu reported that Hasselblad was released a “new” camera and three new XCD lenses some weeks ago.
